Birthdays are so fun – especially for littles. But let’s be real, they can get a little predictable. I love a good cake smash as much as the next girl, but when this idea popped into my head I couldn’t help but be super excited.

My little friend Carina turned two this month, on the twelfth day of September! (I actually photographed her a year ago as well, for her first birthday teepee cake smash.) Carina’s mom Sarah was musing over the idea of birthday pictures, and I realized how perfect Carina would be to model a new idea I had. Luckily, Sarah immediately jumped on board.

Starting the first Saturday of October, you will be able to book a Paint Your Dreams session once a month. It’s a great alternative to a cake smash, or as an option for a two year old who’s already had the traditional smash and/or splash the year before. I love this session because of it’s beauty, whimsy, and simplicity. It’s still messy like a cake smash, but has a bit of a unique feeling. The ingredients for a Paint Your Dreams session are simple: vanilla yogurt masquerading as paint, a brush, a canvas, and a slightly naked little. (I will provide a white diaper cover, with or without ruffles, or you can bring your own!)

These sessions will start at $199 for 5 images. Available dates for the remainder of 2019 are October 5, November 2, and December 7. Book the date that’s closest to your little’s birthday now if you want in. These spots will go super fast as there are only a few per day! This is not a mini session – I repeat, *not* a mini session! – this is an experience. Everyone will have a blast watching their little one get creative and messy and you’ll treasure these photos of their artistic endeavors forever.
