I think a lot of photographers would agree: part of what makes the job so fun and special is getting to be a part of the most special moments of people’s lives. Don’t get me wrong; I love a family photo session. Capturing bonds between siblings. The love parents have for their babies. But there is something extra awesome about being apart of a milestone or special event.
I don’t photograph a lot of engagements, not because I don’t want to but because I mostly attract families and people who want photos of small children. So when I get to take pictures like this, I get super excited.
This session was actually unique, too, for a couple reasons. One: it was a session with new friends. (Which always makes things fun.) And also because it was a hybrid family/engagement session, so I got the both of best worlds! Kelly and Garrett are both SO all about baby Paisley (who you may remember from her teepee session in August), so I can’t even really imagine doing a session for them without her.
We met an hour before sunset at Stone Creek Park in Flower Mound, which has really become a favourite spot of mine. With its gorgeous winding creek and rustic bridge, it’s got a lot to choose from. Kelly was an absolute natural with posing; I was personally thrilled with this. Honestly, I didn’t have to pose them once, can you believe it? I think you can really tell how in love these two are, and what a natural next step their engagement was.
Probably my favourite photos are the ones we took on the bridge. I do think that Paisley stole the show at her parents’ engagement session at least a little bit though! Don’t you agree?
Congratulations, Kelly & Garrett! I feel so honored to have shared in documenting this special time with y’all.
