I almost can’t believe it. It’s that time of year again! That’s right: summer means teepee session time! Today is the last day of May. And even though it’s already seemed like the middle of summer for weeks now in good old Texas thanks to the weather, real summer is just around the corner. And a teepee session is the perfect way to celebrate it. I looked through all of 2017’s teepee sessions and wanted to share a few of my favourites with you.

My first teepee session of last year was with sweet little Caroline. She just turned three this year and you guessed right: these were taken last year right around her second birthday. She couldn’t have looked any sweeter in a teepee at Arbor Hills Nature Preserve. After the evening I took these photos I was even more convinced these sessions would be a hit with a lot more littles.

I shot a bunch of teepee sessions in July (including the one below as well) but this was one of my favourites. Three year old Rose was absolutely enthralled with the teepee and all its potential uses. She ran around it, crawled through the back of it, and tried hiding in it. It was an extremely spirited session during which I for one had a ton of fun, and you can tell from the images that Rose did too!

One of the most classic teepee sessions of summer was with Bodie and Shelby, absolute teepee rock stars. My favourite thing was that their mom even dressed baby boy in tiny mocasins .. so on theme! Little touches make all the difference and help a session like this shine.

Gracie and the teepee were absolutely made for each other. I almost don’t even believe how precious she looked in it. She was all smiles. The best part was her mama and daddy even got down with the teepee, making it my very first every family teepee session! I love it.

I never thought a teepee session would allow me to get this creative! Since we had to wait til Little B, a spring-born baby, to be able to sit up on her own, we conceived this session long before we could bring it to be. That meant waiting until almost Christmas to shoot it! Well, we played up the holiday season in our shoot. I even added a little snow, which I have to say I’m obsessed with. (Especially since we definitely DO NOT get real snow in Texas!) I really hope I get to do something with adding snow again this year.

And last but not least, and just because he’s so damn cute: here’s my little Indian brave. I can’t believe how big he’s gotten in a year! Time flies when you’re having fun in a teepee!
